Join us for a conversation with two outstanding thought leaders – an author and close observer of Israeli life, and the top executive of an iconic American Jewish defense agency.
Lately it seems many conversations on Israel are prone to negativity, largely focusing on her conflicts almost to the exclusion of everything else that makes her great. This is due, in part, to myopic perspectives and some Americans not having ready access to the full chorus of voices about Israel in the context of our time and history. Furthermore, it has been almost fifty years since an American has written a history of Israel objectively. Daniel Gordis ends this drought with his new book, Israel: A Concise History of a Nation Reborn.
Dr. Gordis was named by the Jerusalem Post as one of the world’s 50 most influential Jews and by the Forward as one of the most respected Israel analysts around. A Senior Vice President and the Koret Distinguished Fellow at Shalem College, Dr. Gordis is the author of more than ten books and a regular columnist for both the Jerusalem Post and Bloomberg View. Two of his books were finalists for the National Jewish Book Award, and his book Saving Israel won this prestigious award.
Jonathan Greenblatt will join Dr. Gordis on stage for a conversation that is sure to cover a range of topics. Mr. Greenblatt founded The Impact Economy Initiative and was the former CEO of GOOD Worldwide. He also served as Special Assistant to President Obama and is currently the sixth National Director and CEO of the Anti-Defamation League.
In partnership with The Jewish Week and co-sponsored by Hadassah.
