Human Rights Shabbat

It took attorney Roberta Kaplan “about five seconds, maybe less” to agree to represent Edie Windsor pro bono after hearing her story. This became the landmark Supreme Court case United States v. Windsor that resulted in DOMA being declared unconstitutional.

Join us for a special Human Rights Shabbat with civil rights advocate and architect of the Windsor case, Roberta Kaplan. Roberta (Robbie) Kaplan, a litigation partner at Paul, Weiss LLP, “thrives on looking at the big picture, whether in the gay marriage legal fight or high-profile corporate scandals.” She has been selected as Litigator of the Year by The American Lawyer, and as a Lawyer of the Year by Above the Law. Ms. Kaplan is also the author of Then Comes Marriage, a book about her Supreme Court victory.

Extended Oneg and conversation to follow.
