On December 3, our main sanctuary filled with an enthusiastic audience of classical music lovers for a historic performance by Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Setting the stage for the festive holiday season, the world renowned chamber music ensemble performed Bach’s lively Brandenburg concerto. Temple Emanu-El was thrilled to welcome the distinguished Grammy-award-winning group back to perform for the first time in 13 years. Stay tuned for other performances this spring.

Last night, the beloved, award-winning Israeli singer Svika Pick made his Skirball debut. A packed house of Israelis and Israeli-lovers sang along to his well-known catalog of hits spanning nearly forty years. The performing artist, lyricist and composer wrapped up his 2014 U.S. tour in New York City. Read more

Rita Jahan-Foruz Skirball Center

This sold-out evening presenting Rita Jahan-Foruz’s documentary showed us an intimate view of the successful Israeli singer’s family and personal life while recording her Persian-language album. Even though they live in Israel, they remain very much connected to their Iranian roots and community. Upon receiving heart-warming praise from her fans in Iran, Rita truly realized the power of music to bring people from around the world together. Following a Q&A, Rita performed songs in English, Farsi and Italian.
